Andrés & Vanessa D’Aleman

Boise, Idaho

Biography

Vanessa and Andrés met in Colombia (their birthplace) and together moved to California in the late '90s. Initially, they fell in love with San Francisco where they completed their studies in web design and graphic arts. After joining the tech revolution in Silicon Valley, they moved to Los Angeles and worked with various ad agencies and design studios on everything related to branding and digital design.

Vanessa and Andres were lucky to join Burning Man a few times. And in 2018 Vanessa worked with the talented Colombian team 'Jaguara' and created a fantastic and magical mutant vehicle, contributing to Burning Man's diverse universe and adding a bit of South American flavor to 'Playa'.

Transformed by the unique Burning Man experience, Andres and Vanessa are super excited to join their fellow burners and participate in the Black Rock Forest Project.

Vanessa and Andrés’ Tree - The Fallen Magic Tree

The Fallen Magic Tree

We’ve learned that mushrooms are a vital participant in the forest ecosystem. They act like loving and careful creatures by helping other plants grow. With their mycelium network, they connect trees to one another and support our existence.

We want to bring our own network of fungi to join the most magical forest ever seen in the Nevada desert. The main idea is to place a fallen tree (real? Hand-made?) and create our own hand-made fungi by adding various species of whimsical mushrooms giving a magical experience during the day and night.

Materials: The tree trunk is made of a sturdy skeleton and wrapped in thick foam to offer comfortable sitting. The mushrooms are made of organic materials (fabric, foam) and lights
