Building a Forest

Paula’s Tree Concept

This is the first draft of the tree that my two children and I will make at home during the quarantine.

The idea is to make a tree with 3 old mannequins, adapting them as flowerpots so that the wedding grows in them for a year, so that they are able to travel to black rock City next year.

With the help of a biology, we will plant plants and parasites to cover the skin of the mannequins.

Additionally we will draw extinct flora.

We will cover everything with clear and shiny lacquer to give it a porcelain finish.  We will also repair the cracks with receive gold color referring to the Japanese Kintsukuroi technique that exalts the beauty of scars.

We will also add porcelain figures to the figures throughout the year with the intention of simulating the continuity of life and the relationship of dependency between all beings.

The third mannequin will be made from the legs of a male mannequin on which we will melt candles forming the trunk and branches, which still retain the wicks to be lit one by one for the lives lost by the COVID-19 on the night of the burning of the temple.
