Reno, Nevada

Biography

Brittany Sundheim has studied ceramics over the course of 18 years during which time she received her Bachelors of Fine Arts from the University of the Arts and a Masters of Fine Arts from the University of New Mexico, all with an emphasis in ceramics.

She has worked and exhibited with artists from around the world including Mata Ortiz in Mexico, Tokoname in Japan, and several places in America, as well as many more.

Her work is based on a study of microscopic organisms whose forms she recreates in clay.

By understanding the importance of those remarkable connections she strives to capture their essence within her art. Her work has evolved from theory and observation into concrete form. Her forms represent the connections between all living things and the importance of even the smallest cell.

Brittany’s Tree Concept

The tree will be made of clay with sections interlocking with each other. The plan is to make it 4 to 5 feet tall and about a foot wide. It is based off the concept that through connections even with what is going on today we can lift one another up and do amazing things.
