J. P Harbor
San Francisco, California
Biography
I am a lawyer in San Francisco in the default world (although I often provide counsel of various kinds in Black Rock City!), and I am also very involved in the art and music worlds in many ways through non-profits.
I love the creative Burning Man community (I have been to B.M. 5 times), and as an informal artist and enthusiast I have volunteered on art cars, for theme camps, for art installation builds (including The Folly last year and the Temple two years ago), and of course I love putting a great costume together like any Burner!
This would be my first Black Rock City art installation, and I am excited for the opportunity. I am also drawn to the collaborative nature of this project, and I’m looking forward to making a magical forest together!

J.P’s Tree Concept
The Cosmic Oxygenic Burning Harbour Arbor Tree
“C.O.B.H.A.”
Narrative / Art Theme: 5 Elements of Life on 5 sides: Space, Air, Fire, Water, and Earth.
Design plan: Cone shaped tree made of wood (like a Christmas tree) with 5 side panel sections (like a star / snowflake), with each of the side sections decorated with one of the 5 elemental themes; with blinky lights on the edges between each section; and a disco ball or other reflective sphere (or star) on top of the tree. More details will surely evolve!
Dimensions: Height of approximately 8-9 feet and a wooden base of 4x4 feet.
Names, Themes, and Colors of Each of the 5 Sides / Sections of the Tree:
(1) “Cosmic Girl“ (Space / purple): outer space themed - trees in space, the Sun, aliens, etc.
(2) “Fairy“ (Oxygen / Air / white and silver): creative representation of photosynthesis, etc.
(3) “Fire Woman" (Fire / red): images of fire & some previous Burning Man burns, etc.
(4) “Mermaid“ (Water / blue): water / rain / ocean & a pirate ship docked in a harbour, etc.
(5) “Forest Nymph“ (Arbor / Earth / green): foliage to make look like natural tree & maybe some animals.
